About the Trustees
The Trustees consists of
representatives of the City of Hamilton, Newalta Corporation and residents
in the community of Upper Stoney Creek. Trustees are those individuals
responsible for the administration of the Trust.
How are Trustees selected?
Advertisements were placed
in local newspapers requesting applications by the individuals wishing
to become a Trustee. The Trustees were then selected from among those
applicants who satisfied the criteria in the Trust Indenture (Established
in 1997). The Trust Indenture provides that at all times no less than
three trustees shall be representative of the community of Upper Stoney
Creek, one trustee shall be a representative nominated by Newalta Corporation
and one trustee shall be the Mayor of Hamilton or his designate.

Doug Duke
Douglas Duke has been
a proud resident of Upper Stoney Creek since 1997 when he and his wife
determined that the community’s many wonderful amenities and lovely
open spaces provided the ideal environment to raise a family. Over the
past few years, Doug has worked as a volunteer for Stoney Creek Jr.
B Warriors and enjoys his role as the team’s public address announcer
for home games played at Valley Park Arena. Currently the executive
officer of the Hamilton-Halton Home Builders’ Association, Doug is acutely
aware of the importance of finding ways to strengthening a community
for the benefit of its residents, its businesses and its various groups
and organizations. It is for this reason that he chose to get involved
and assist the tremendously dedicated citizens already sitting on the
Trust. As a new father of a beautiful baby girl, Doug is keen to ensure
that Upper Stoney Creek remains a wonderful and vibrant community so
that future generations will be able to enjoy it to its fullest potential.
By sitting on the Heritage Community Trust, it is Doug’s hope that he’ll
be able to play a small role in helping to realize that goal.
Brad Clark
Brad is a highly skilled and well-respected community leader. With 18
years of extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, Brad is
eager to assist his clients with their fund development management,
public relations, volunteer coordination or marketing needs. His extensive

including Catholic Missions in Canada, the Knights of Columbus, the

Community Trust; which he has held since 2001. In addition to his role
as Trustee and Company Representative on the Heritage Green Community
Trust, Mike is Regional Manager of Hamilton Operations for Newalta Industrial
Services Inc, which owns and operates the Stoney Creek Landfill. Mike
and Newalta are firm believers in providing opportunities for the community
of Upper Stoney Creek through the principles established in the Heritage
Green Community Trust Indenture and the efforts of the local community
members also on the Trust.
Rose Killey
Rose and her family have
been members of the Upper Stoney Creek community for nine years. Rose
has come to treasure the unique location of her neighbourhood with beautiful
open countryside to the south and the City of Hamilton sitting below
the escarpment to the north. Beginning with the wish to learn of her
new surroundings to the desire to pay it forward, Rose's contribution
to community service has been diverse over the years. She has participated
as a Judge in the Trillium Awards for two years, volunteered for four
years and sat on the Board of Directors of the Saltfleet Figure Skating
Club, continues to represent the area of Stoney Creek as a Citizen member
of the City of Hamilton Solid Waste Management's Waste Reduction Task
Force, attends Saltfleet Secondary School Parent Council meetings and
contributes to the decision making process of her Condominium Board.
With rapid growth in the area, the future of the community is bright
and exciting as it balances its existing appeal with all the amenities
now arriving. It is Rose's hope to aid the Heritage Green Community
Trust in its challenge to provide opportunities and services for all
its residents both long standing and newcomer.
